Josh has to be one of the slowest teether's ever. Not only is he a slow teether but his teeth are popping through in the most unusual order. He was a late teether to begin with as he got his first two teeth (bottom front) just before his first birthday. His first set of molars came next at 15 months old followed by his two front teeth and the top left lateral incisor at 17 months. And that's it. That's all that he had up until this week when his top left canine and bottom left lateral incisor popped through. Slowly but surely that gummy smile is disappearing.
Josh is doing pretty well this week. He has a cough and a cold right now which is a drag especially since he just got over gastro but hopefully it's on its way out. I have a feeling though that this cough is going to be around for a while.
I've started Josh on his puffers again just while he has this cold. He only usually needs them when he is sick with a cold and truthfully I haven't had to use them in a very long time. But as soon as I heard him coughing I decided to start them up again. It takes about 3 days of therapy before his flovent really starts working so the sooner into a cold I start it the better. What I found really neat this time is how cooperative Josh is with taking his puffers. It used to be a real ordeal to get the little aerochamber mask over is face long enough to administer the medication all the while maintaining a perfect seal. But this time around he actually puts his face forward waiting for the mask and then takes nice deep breaths after I discharge the medication. What a good little boy!
On the speech front, not much improvement. He is still using mostly vowel sounds, we're still not hearing very many consonants and no new words. Actually that's not true. He does have one new word 'na' for no. So baby steps I guess. I have definitely noticed an increase in the amount of whining though. Probably partly because he has been sick and partly because his comprehension is progressing but his verbal expression is not. The greater the gap between the two the more whining I'm likely to hear. I'll be honest, some days the whining drives me crazy! I love him to death and I keep my patience with him but goodness gracious the whining....ohhhh the whining.
Not much else going on here, just nursing his cold. Although we did manage to get outside the other day to enjoy our 30 degree weather at the park. Here are some pics to enjoy. Thanks for checking in!
