What Are The Chances....?

Okay, I promise I'll post some Halloween pictures before this post is finished but I first want to share with you what happened yesterday.

I had made an appointment for Josh to have his hair cut yesterday morning at Melonheads. He's having his Christmas pictures taken on Friday and his hair was starting to get a little shaggy so I figured another haircut was due. Robb dropped us off but was still a little nervous the hairdresser would cut Josh (despite his first haircut going really well) and so opted instead to go get a coffee.

Josh wasn't enjoying the hair cutting experience, basically crying through the whole thing (as I knew he would) despite my best efforts to entertain/distract him. His haircut was just about finished when Robb decided to drop by. Josh was so happy to see him - he immediately stopped crying (go figure!). Robb wasn't there even five minutes when it happened.......the hair dresser cut Josh's ear. And it wasn't just a little nic - she cut a small patch of skin on the top of his ear right off. Josh let out a piercing wail and blood started to drip from the top of his ear :( Needless to say Robb freaked.

Josh is okay now. His ear doesn't seem to be bothering him too much and he more or less leaves the bandage alone. I had to change his bandage this morning because the old one was falling off and I got a little bit of a better look at it today. It's not as deep as I thought but there is definitely a patch of skin missing. It had started bleeding again as I was trying to clean it but the flow of blood was much slower than yesterday so hopefully a scab will develop soon and it can start to heal. My poor baby. I guess Robb will never let me get his hair cut again so if you see Josh in a few months with a shaggy mop you know why :)

Okay Halloween. We had a great Halloween this year! Josh and I went to a Halloween potluck party in the early afternoon with a bunch of moms and their babes that we had met at play group. The party was a blast and the kids looked adorable in their costumes.

My offering for the potluck was a kitty litter cake (which despite its gross appearance was actually quite good) and a yummy mummy cheese spread. Both were a big hit.

Josh was a bunny for Halloween and I just love his costume. Robb picked it out and I think he made an excellent choice. He even went trick-or-treating this year which he actually seemed to enjoy. We were out for about half an hour and he filled his pumpkin with goodies. And we really couldn't have asked for better weather. It was so mild (a balmy 13 C) and the air was calm. Not bad for a city that received 15 cm of snow 2 days earlier. All in all it was a great day and I hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween!
