Molars...Really?

Josh is finally starting to cut some new teeth....and they're molars no less! The two top molars have cut through the gum. It's not unusual for a 14 month old to get molars - it's actually right on track. What I do find unusual is that he only has two other teeth (the bottom front ones) so I was completely surprised when I noticed his molars through the gum before any of his top front teeth. Oh well, I'm sure they're not too far behind.

You'll be happy to hear that Josh's ear has healed beautifully after the hair cutting fiasco. The scab fell off earlier today and there is nice new pink skin in its place. I'm not sure if it's going to scar or not, it's too early to tell. At any rate, that's another awful experience behind us.

There hasn't been too much else going on. We had some absolutely amazing weather earlier this month so Josh and I got out as much as we could to enjoy the warmth and sunshine before the snow and cold weather hit us. That warm weather is gone now and we're into more seasonal weather, so there's not as much opportunity to get out and enjoy the fresh air.

The group sessions that Josh and I go to every Tuesday afternoon have been going well. It took about 6 weeks but he's finally warming up to the group. He is such a shy boy and is very sensitive to new people and unexpected noises and he wasn't really 'coming out of his shell' so to speak. There has been a definite change the last two weeks though. He has been more outgoing, more brave in approaching the other group members and was participating more in the group activities. It was really a proud moment for me, to see him overcome his shyness - at least in this environment.

In terms of milestone development, Josh is still not walking but he's getting closer. He's starting to experiment more with 'letting go' and standing in place for a few seconds before plopping to the ground and I have seen him cruise around the furniture holding on with only one hand. He hasn't done this often or for a long period of time, but he has done it. I can see that he's starting to build more confidence so probably in another month or two he'll be walking.

I've really been having a lot of fun with Josh lately - it's such a fun and amazing age. It seems every day he is learning something new and he is constantly trying to imitate Robb and I which has made for some pretty hilarious moments. It's amazing how one small little person can instantly melt your heart with a simple little noise, gesture or facial expression. Oh, how I love being a mom!

I'll leave you with a picture of Josh trying to sneak up on our cat Simon.
