Heading Back To Work

Tomorrow is my last day of mat leave as on Wednesday I head back to work. The end of my mat leave brings mixed emotions. On one hand I'm kind of looking forward to getting back to work (although I expect it to take a little while to find my 'groove') but on the other hand it will be tough leaving Josh. I feel extremely lucky to have had a whole year off with him but it doesn't make going back to work any easier.

For my American friends/family I should mention that here in Canada we get an entire year of mat leave. Pretty lucky eh? :) I think it's fantastic! I just can't believe how quickly the year has past.

I'm also pretty fortunate that I don't have to put Josh into daycare when I go back to work. I do shift work and I have been able to make arrangements to work primarily evening shifts in order to accommodate Robb's schedule. So I'll be home with Josh in the morning/early afternoon and Robb will be with him late afternoon/evening. It's going to be a tough adjustment but I'm sure we'll all pull through just fine.

As I reflect over this past year I marvel at the incredible journey that we have taken. It has been nowhere near the kind of year that I expected but we grow, we learn, we adapt to what life gives us.

I'll be sure to keep you all posted on my transition back into the workforce. In the meantime stay tuned for the continuation of Josh's story. I'm not sure what you all have thought of it so far, but for me chapter 3 was a tough one. When I read the chapter in its entirety for the first time after its completion I was overcome with emotion numerous times. To relive the experience all over again was harder than expected but I'm glad that I'm sharing his story.
